Setup Email Exchange with Windows Phone

Windows mobile phones can be set up to connect to your Email Exchange. Once set up, your email messages, contact list, and calendar will sync on your phone.

Before you proceed with the setup, make sure you have created a mailbox in your Email Exchange:

The following steps were written for the Email Exchange feature on Windows phone devices. These settings may also be used with any email application, but the setup will be slightly different for each.

Note: Make sure that your Windows phone or device has an internet connection before you set up your Email Exchange.

Setting Email Exchange with Windows 8 Phone

These are the steps you need to follow to set up Email Exchange on your Windows 8 device:

Step 1. Go to the Start screen. Swipe left to view the Main Apps list.
Step 2. Find the Settings icon and tap it to open the feature.

Step 3. On the Settings screen, find the email+accounts option and tap that.

Step 4. On the next screen, tap the add an account option.

Step 5. Next, tap the Outlook option.

Step 6. On the next screen, fill out the following fields:

Email Address This is the personalised email address you have set up in your email hosting.

e.g. user@yourdomain.com
Password This is the authorisation key you use whenever you access the personalised email address you have set up in your email hosting.

To be sure you are typing the right password, check the box beside Show Password.

Note: If you have created several email addresses in your email hosting, make sure the authorisation key you put here corresponds to the email address you typed into the Email Address field.

Tap the sign in button below.
Step 7. If there are no issues, Windows will automatically set up your email, and you will get a notification that your Exchange account has been added to your mobile device. Tap done.

Congratulations, you have added your Email Exchange to your Windows 8 mobile device. Your email messages, contact list, and calendar will now sync on your phone.

Additional Notes:

Note 1. If the account does not connect, you will receive the following notification:
Check your information and try again. You may have just mistyped your password.
Then, fill out the following fields:

Email Address This is your email address. Type in your full email address here.

e.g. user@yourdomain.com
Password This is the authorisation key to your mailbox.
User name This is the name of your account.
Domain This refers to the domain in your personalised email address.

e.g. yourdomain.com
Select or put a check mark on the Server requires encrypted (SSL) connection option.

Note: Most phones have SSL certificates preinstalled in their device’s root store. Check your unit’s Device Security features to confirm this.

Tap the sign in button below to save your configuration settings.
Note 2. If you receive the following warning:

Just tap continue.

Setting Email Exchange with Windows 10 Phone

These are the steps you need to follow to set up Email Exchange in your Windows 10 device:

Step 1. Go to the Start screen. Swipe left to view the Main Apps list.
Step 2. Find the Settings icon and tap it to open the feature.
Step 3. On the Settings screen, find the Accounts option and tap that.

Step 4. On the next screen, tap the Your email and accounts option.

Step 5. Next, tap Add an account.

Step 6. Next, tap the Exchange option.

Step 7. On the Exchange screen, type in your full Email address and the system will try to look for your account settings. Tap Next.

Step 8. Type in your Password. Tap Sign In.

Step 9. If you typed in a valid email address and password, and everything else is in order, Windows will automatically sync your email, calendar and contact list.

If the account does not connect, you will receive the following message:

You will need to tap Try again three times before it changes to Advanced setup. Once it does, tap Advanced.

In the Advanced setup screen, fill out the following fields:

Email address This is your email address. Type in your full email address here.

e.g. user@yourdomain.com
Password This is the authorisation key to your mailbox.
User name In most accounts, this also means your full email address.

e.g. user@yourdomain.com
Domain This refers to the domain in your personalised email address.

e.g. yourdomain.com
Server This is the mail server that will handle your emails.

It should be typed as mail.yourdomain.com. Replace the “yourdomain” part with your correct domain name.
Account name This is the name for your email account in your device.
Step 10. Usually, the Server requires encrypted (SSL) connection is already checked.

Tap the Sign in button to save your configuration settings.
Step 11. If there are no issues, you will get a confirmation message saying the setup was successful. Tap the Done button to finish configuration settings.

Congratulations, you have added your Email Exchange to your Windows 10 mobile device. Your email messages, contact list, and calendar will now sync on your phone.
