Install an SSL on Microsoft IIS 5/6
After you have created your CSR, purchased your SSL Certificate, and the SSL Certificate validation and processing are complete, you are ready to install your SSL Certificate. The certificate will be provided by email. The SSL Certificate will be an attached text file with encrypted data that your server will use once the certificate is installed.
Installing SSL for Microsoft IIS 5/6
This tutorial shows you how to install SSL for Microsoft IIS 5/6. You can install SSL for Microsoft IIS 5/6 by doing the following:
|Step 1.||Open Internet Services Manager. (Some version of Windows call this: Internet Information Services)|
|Step 2.||Right-click on the website and left-click on Properties.|
|Step 3.||On the Directory Security Tab click Server Certificate.|
|Step 4.||Choose to Process the Pending Request and Install the Certificate and then click Next.|
|Step 5.||Enter the location or browse to the location of the SSL Certificate file and then click Next.|
|Step 6.||Read the summary screen to be sure that you are processing the correct certificate and then click Next.|
|Step 7.||You will see a confirmation screen. When you have read this information, click Next.|
|Step 8.||Stop and Start the appropriate website.|
You now have an SSL certificate installed for use on IIS.
