What is a Staging Site?
A staging site, to put it simply, is a duplicate or a clone of your live website. Since it is often offline or inaccessible to the public, it is a great option to use to test out scripts, plugins, and themes before pushing them live on your actual site. Whatever modifications you make on your staging site will not affect your original WordPress site and its settings. With that said, your visitors would not experience any interruptions while you are working on developing your website. Moreover, using a staging site reduces the risk of experiencing downtime.
How to Create a Staging Site?
You can create a staging site through your Account Manager. Just follow these steps:
||Click on My Account at the top of this page.
||Ensure that Account Manager is selected.
||Enter your username and password. Click Log In.
||Click on Web Hosting from the menu bar at the top of the page.
||Click on the domain name that is registered to WordPress Hosting.
||On the WordPress Hosting page, scroll down to find the tab that has your domain name on it. Click the [ v ] arrow located at the right side of the tab.
||Click the Staging tab and the click on the Create Staging button.
||Click Confirm and Create to proceed with creating your staging site.
It usually takes a couple of minutes for the staging site to finish deploying. You will be notified on your email as soon as it is done.
Once the staging site is done, you will be able to access it and start with your modifications.
Congratulations! You just created a staging site.
